We travel to Lake Guntersville each summer for our family reunion and it is a gem of a park hidden away in Alabama. The lodge feels more like a lodge from the Swiss Alps than the Alabama foothills. The back deck view of the lake 600 feet below is amazing. Sunsets alone are worth the trip. Then there's the golf, zipline, restaurant, pool, and various other activities. If you've never been there, please go, you won't regret it. I've stayed in both the chalets down the road from the lodge and the bluff-side rooms on the wings of the lodge. The chalets provide more space and a kitchenette, but the rooms in the lodge are nicer.

Tucked away in the central Alabama foothills Guntersville lake is a great place to come whether Fishing Boating or just enjoying the scenery, the panoramic views, the sunsets, and sunrises are breathe taking. The park rangers are very watchful and hospitality makes you feel at home. So if you ever want to get away for nice weekend, well nature calls, come visit the beautiful Lake Guntersville State Park, you'll be glad you did.

Tired of fishing (really?), get your camera because deer roam in groups of 8 to 12 throughout the park. Bald eagles, hawks, bluebirds, shore birds, ducks, and all species of migratory birds can also be seen throughout the park. At dawn and just before dusk make sure to be near the main lodge or in the camp grounds because deer come to forage for acorns.

Our family went there for Christmas lunch. Great buffet! Not overly crowded while we were there. Help staff was very friendly and courteous.

We stayed in one of the lakeside cabins that offer comfortable beds and a cozy feeling for looking out onto the magnificent views of the lake and mountains that surround this 70 mile long lake. Feel like fishing, just cast out the back door or contact one of the many fishing guides (that's what we did) for a guaranteed day of catching crappie, bass, drum and all the species of fish that are plentiful.

Had a wonderful Christmas meal. Only draw back was they added gratuity to the check no matter the size of the party. $8 tip for buffet was a little much for party of 2. I do hope they split tips there. Great food.

Hiking trails run throughout the park and are easily accessible by car or just walk the park roads with spectacular overlooks of the mountain and lake.

This place is beautiful! The lodge is what one would expect from a mountain lake facility. You are met with a large fireplace in the lobby, and friendly, helpful staff. Take the staircase down to the lounge or restaurant and step out onto a large concrete balcony that overlooks the park and lake. Cabins, chalets, RV camping or rustic camping are available.

Don't forget to get to know your neighbors as they come from all over the US and Canada and are friendly and love the outdoors as much as you. No one was a stranger with our stay. Loved every moment of our 35th wedding anniversary stay.
